The answer first

Do not initialize the PS4. First check PlayStation’s service status, completely restart the console instead of using Rest Mode, sign out and back into PlayStation Network, confirm the date and time are automatic, and install any system update. NAT Type 2 is normal and is not automatically the problem.

Try these in this order

  1. Check for a PlayStation outage. Open PlayStation Network Service Status on your phone. If Account Management or PlayStation Store is having trouble, wait for Sony to restore it.
  2. Restart the PS4 completely. Hold the PS button, choose Power, then Restart PS4. Do not choose Rest Mode.
  3. Power-cycle the network equipment. Turn off the PS4. Unplug the modem and router for about 60 seconds, reconnect the modem first, wait for it to settle, then reconnect the router and restart the PS4.
  4. Refresh the PlayStation Network session. Go to Settings → Account Management → Sign Out. Restart the console, then sign in again.
  5. Correct the console clock. Go to Settings → Date and Time → Date and Time Settings → Set Using Internet. A wrong date can break secure connections even while ordinary internet tests pass.
  6. Check for system software updates. Open Settings → System Software Update and install anything waiting.
  7. Restore licenses. Go to Settings → Account Management → Restore Licenses. This is especially useful when Store purchases, owned games, or account entitlements are not loading correctly.
If other online games work: that makes a total internet failure less likely. Concentrate on PSN status, the account session, system time, updates, and the Store application data.

If the Store still will not open

The next reasonable step is rebuilding the PS4 database. It reorganizes local system data and can fix menus or applications that hang. It is not the same thing as initializing the console, but backing up important saves first is still smart.

  1. Turn the PS4 fully off. The power light should stop blinking.
  2. Hold the console power button until you hear the second beep, which normally takes about seven seconds.
  3. Connect the controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
  4. Choose Rebuild Database. Do not choose Initialize PS4.
  5. Let the process finish without unplugging the system.
Do not jump to factory reset. “Initialize PS4” erases data. It should not be used as an early Store troubleshooting step.

Quick diagnostic checklist

Mark each step as you try it0 of 7 complete
Is NAT Type 2 bad?

No. NAT Type 2 is the common result for a PS4 connected through a home router. It normally allows PlayStation Network and online games to work.

Should I change the DNS?

Not first. DNS changes sometimes help a name-resolution problem, but they can also complicate an otherwise working setup. Try the account, clock, update, license, and restart steps before replacing automatic network settings.

What if the Store opens on another account?

That points more strongly toward an account-session or account-status problem than a console-wide network failure. Sign out and back in on the affected account and use official PlayStation account support if it continues.
